Power User Tips


There are a half dozen different ways to perform any given function on a Windows computer:
Here are a few power tips that can speed up your work
  • RIGHT MOUSE
    Use the RIGHT MOUSE KEY to
    • Create New Folders
    • Create New Text files
    • Copy/Cut or Paste files
    • Click in the TASKBAR to tile your active windows

  • ALT-TAB to switch between windows
  • HOLD SHIFT
    When you drag a file from one folder to another, Hold the SHIFT key to toggle between MOVE or COPY
  • HOLD CONTROL
    When you double click a folder to open it in a new window
  • FUNCTION KEYS
    have the following effects
    • [F5] will REFRESH (or reload) a window or webpage
    • [F2] will let you RENAME a selected file or folder
    • [F1] will bring up the HELP document on your current application

  • CLICK WITH THE WHEEL MOUSE BUTTON
    In a webpage to open the link in a NEW TAB
  • CTRL ZOOM WITH THE WHEEL MOUSE BUTTON
    Hold the CTRL key down while you roll the wheel mouse to zoom in or out of webpages
    • Use CTRL-0 to restore to regular size
