1. RENAMING a Page

  1. Select the desired page from the SIDEBAR menu
  2. Click the EDIT button near the top right
  3. You can now alter the page name near the top of the page
  4. Hit the SAVE button

NOTES
  • The name of the page will change in the sidebar menu
  • Sidebar menus list pages alphabetically, and according to page "hierarchy"

TIPS
  • Name pages with numbers to control their menu order
  • Use SHORT page names to keep the menu simple

EXERCISE:
  • Change the name of your HOMEPAGE to reflect YOUR name instead!

2. CREATING a Page

  1. Select the appropriate "parent" page in the sidebar menu
  2. Click the NEW PAGE button near the top right
  3. Name the page appropriately
    (remember to start with a numbers to control how the page will appear in the sidebar menu)
  4. Select an appropriate PAGE TEMPLATE to use
    1. Try choosing a "Project Page" template - it will be pre-Loaded with tables for formatting, and cues for anecdotes
  5. Under "SELECT A LOCATION", choose the logical "parent" page for the one you're creating
  6. Click the CREATE button at the top of the page
  7. Click the SAVE button

EXERCISE:
  • Create PROJECT pages for each of the pieces of work you've done in class so far
  • TIP: If something gets messed up, you can always RENAME, MOVE or DELETE your pages later

3. MOVING a Page

  1. Select the page you need to move from the sidebar menu
  2. Use the SETTINGS (GEAR) button and select "MOVE PAGE"
    (or you can just use SHIFT-M)
  3. Specify where in the website hierarchy you want to move that page to and click MOVE

EXERCISE:
  • Try Creating a page called "COMPANION CUBE".
  • Try MOVING the "Companion Cube" page so that it has a different "parent" than the one it started with. Note the change in the sidebar menu.

4. DELETING a Page


  1. Select the page you need to delete from the sidebar menu
  2. Use the SETTINGS button and select DELETE
    (or you can just use SHIFT-3)

EXERCISE:
  • Delete the "Companion Cube" page

5. CONTROLLING your PAGE SETTINGS


  1. Select the page you need to change from the sidebar menu
  2. Use the SETTINGS button and select PAGE SETTINGS
    (or you can just use "u")
  3. To keep your pages looking clean and consistent:
    1. Turn OFF "page titles", "show links", "show attachments" on pages where they aren't particularly attractive or useful
    2. You may want to "allow comments" for now - you can always turn them off later
  4. Click SAVE

EXERCISE:
  • Turn off the unnecessary options on all pages you've created so far
